How to evaluate a usb display adapter?

How to evaluate a multi-function usb display adapter? What a bunch of headaches. Today for review I've got the USB 2.0 VGA / DVI / HDMI multi-display Adapter from USB Port, this little device allows you to use your USB port and connect you desktop or laptop to DVI, VGA or HDMI enabled monitors and TVs. It's based off the Displaylink chipset, it's easy to use, and it offers the user an easy way to add a display.

The USB to DVI VGA HDMI adapter utilizes the DisplayLink DL-195 chip, which provides support for resolutions as high 2,048 x 1,152, so 1080p and 1,920 x 1,200 LCD monitors are well taken care of. Best of all, this thing doesn't require a Core i7 rig to operate, so your 5 year old corporate laptop should be plenty to handle the rigors of powering a 24-inch LCD via a dusty old USB socket.

In general, USB Multi Display Adapter allows you to connect an extra monitor (CRT,LCD,Projector..) to your desktop PC or laptop’s USB port. The connected monitor can be configured to either clone your primary screen or extend the Windows desktop allowing visibility of more applications at the same time. This USB Multi Display Adapter is for use with DVI, VGA or HDMI monitors. Works with Windows and Macintosh based computers. Add up to 6 additional monitors to your computer.
