2010 L.A. Auto Show Preview: 2012 Mazda5, Shinari Concept

The leaves are turning, weather is getting cooler, and that smell is in the air. Yep, it's almost time for the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, and the previews are flowing. Mazda will be bringing its new Shinari concept and the Nagare-influenced 2012 Mazda5.

The Shinari Concept, originally unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in September, like the Nagare before it, will inspire Mazda's future design direction. We have to say we're looking forward to the future at Mazda based on this car's sleek, flowing lines and lack of Bangle-esque flame-surfacing found on the Nagare-inspired cars.

Speaking of Nagare-inspired cars, we'll also get a good look at the 2012 Mazda5 this year. The popular pint-sized people-mover features a highly stylized side treatment, with strong character lines and a multi-dimensional surface. But the changes to the 2012 Mazda5 aren't just at the sheetmetal level.

Under the hood, a 2.5-liter MZR engine cranks out 157 horsepower, mated to a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. Seating for six and all the utility of the current model remain.

For the full release, replete with Mazda's fantastic design language, hit up page two.
