Lenovo to spend US$2.7 bln on product procurement in Taiwan


Aug. 20, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Lenovo Group Ltd . the world's fourth-largest PC manufacturer, plans to buy US$2.7 billion worth of products from Taiwan in order to ensure the supply of key PC components in the peak season, sources reported.
Lenovo joined a delegation with other mainland enterprises, including Konka Group Co<000016><200016> and Hasee Computer Co Ltd, to visit Taiwan from today. Local newspaper said that Lenovo will raise its laptop PC orders with Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics and Wistron.
Konka will mainly buy flat panels and network devices, Hasee will focus on electronic component procurement.
Lenovo earlier this month posted a net loss of US$16.01 million in the April-June quarter, representing a decrease of US$127 million compared with that of a year earlier.
