South African release of environmental programs to reduce carbon pollution, the World Cup.
World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa had begun, held once in four years, the world's most popular sport of the occasion, start the host country while the lowest CO2 emissions of the plan. South African government tried to implement carbon offset program, green, visitors benefit from the concept of race.
Green program is the Global Environment Facility, United Nations Environment Programmed and the South African Environmental Affairs Agency joint project. Global Environment Facility provided $ 1 million in the six host cities to implement environmental projects.
South Africa's Environmental Affairs Committee, and the South African Department of Energy, Ministry of Tourism, the Central Energy Fund, South African national power company and the local World Cup Organizing Committee selected five carbon offset projects, with the World Cup tourism receipts generally compensates for carbon dioxide emissions. The five projects include solar cookers, compost soil, and wind, solar and LED light lamps.
South Africa's Water and Environment Minister Buyelwa Sonjica said, "When we welcome the world, South Africa hosting the World Cup must leave a legacy for the people of South Africa as the Ministry of Environment, part of the heritage we hope is the legacy of the green, so we have implemented several programs as part of the heritage of green, now the South African people at all levels of life, and in the future when the passengers to leave our shores, that they will continue to benefit.”
